Young Petals is an early childhood service licensed for 30 children. We are open 5 days a week from 7am – 6pm, excluding public holidays. We provide full day care, as well as sessional care of 3 / 4 / 6 hours a day, as per the needs of the family. We also provide the 20 ECE hours for over 3 children and WINZ subsides if needed.
We are a small knitted team of 8 highly motivated staff members, including Owner Operator, Centre Manager, Sujata Patel. We provide meals to all the children attending our care and services. We believe in delivering a quality care to our children with more than 80% qualified staff.
Our centre is spread across three rooms-the babies room (0-2 years), toddler room (2-3.5 years), and preschool room (3.5-6 years). We work closely with our parents and whanau and strive to achieve the goals and aspirations for their children.
Connecting with the tamariki and the whanau and building relationships and connections that are strong and rich. Being able to teach our tamariki and learn from tamariki and finding that every day is not the same. Unconditional love is the standout factor. We feel privileged by the whanau placing their trust in us and validated by the awesome love and interactions with the tamariki each and every day challenging moments are just as meaningful as connected moments.
We value relationships and strive to have staff that align with our belief system or incorporating their belief system if it helps our Centre to excel. We have a more homely feel and vibe and is the key selling point when whanau work through that door… as they enter the foyer I hear parents say, “It feels welcoming, inviting, warm!”
We believe that children are precious, special, unique, and valuable! They grow and develop in their own unique style and way. And by working together with their parents, caregivers, and whanau as partners, we can enjoy and bring out the best in our tamariki!
We believe that children learn BEST through PLAY and EXPLORATION. We encourage child-initiated learning with teacher assistance only when necessary. We see the environment as the third teacher, the first being Parents, the second being teachers. The resources and equipment are set up by us to extend the children’s interests, curiosity, and learning.
We value teaching children’s social skills like empathy, compassion for others, making and keeping friendships and problem solving with peers as a lifetime skill. We are keen for children to develop a love of learning and to become independent, confident, and assertive young individuals who can think for themselves and developing the skills necessary to move through life.
